Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 19, 2026
Studer Works, LLC (“Studer Works,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and knows that you care about protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.studerworks.com (the “Site,” including all subdomains), buy or use our software products (the “Software”), or contact us (together with the Site and the Software, the “Services”), and how we use, share, and protect that information.
Our Software is built to keep your work on your own computer. We do not collect the files, recordings, transcripts, or other content you create with our Software, and we do not sell your personal information.
This privacy policy forms part of our Terms of Use and our Software License Agreement. For residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, Section 9 describes your additional rights. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Section 10 describes how the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply. For these laws, Studer Works, LLC is the “controller” of the personal information described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
a. Information You Give Us
- Contact form and emails: your name, email address, the topic and product you select, and your message, when you use our contact form or email us.
- Refund requests: your order number, email address, and the reason you give, when you use our refund page.
- Support: any information you choose to include when you ask us for help, such as screenshots, log files, or details about your computer. Please do not send us meeting recordings or other confidential content unless we ask for a specific file to solve a problem.
b. Purchase Information
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details directly, and we never receive your full card number. Lemon Squeezy shares with us your name, email address, billing country, the products and license types you bought, the amount paid, any discount code used, your order number, and your license keys and their activations.
c. Information Our Software Sends
- License activation and checks: when you activate a license key and when the Software periodically checks it, the Software sends the license key and a name for the computer, made up of the computer’s user name, computer name, and operating system (for example, “alex@ALEX-LAPTOP (Windows)”), to the licensing service run by Lemon Squeezy. This lets you and us see which computers use a key, and lets you free an activation. The licensing service also receives your IP address.
- Updates and downloads: when the Software checks for updates or downloads installers, updates, or components from our download servers, those servers receive your IP address, the product version and operating system, and ordinary request information.
- Websites you bookmark: Bookmark Manager contacts the websites you save, from your computer or your server, to look up page titles and check whether links still work, and your browser loads their site icons. Those websites receive your IP address and ordinary request information under their own privacy policies. We are not involved and receive none of it.
- Third-party downloads: some Software downloads AI models and components directly from third-party sources (such as Hugging Face, PyTorch, Ollama, and GitHub). Those sources receive your IP address and request information under their own privacy policies.
The Software does not include advertising, analytics, or usage tracking.
d. Content You Create With Our Software
Content you create with our Software, such as bookmarks, folders, tags and notes, meeting recordings, transcripts, voice profiles (“voiceprints”), summaries, notes, documents, and the questions you ask, is stored and processed on your own computer or on a server that you or your organization controls. We do not receive, store, or have access to that content. If you connect our Software to a third-party AI assistant or other tool, that tool’s provider handles the content you allow it to access under its own privacy policy.
If you use our Software to record other people or to create voiceprints of them, you are responsible for giving any notice and obtaining any consent that the law requires, as described in our Software License Agreement.
e. Automatic Data Collection on the Site
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider records IP addresses, browser type, the pages requested, referring pages, and date and time stamps. We use these logs to run the Site, keep it secure, and fix problems.
- Spam protection: our contact and refund forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks information about your browser and device to tell people from automated spam.
- Checkout: when you open the checkout on the Site, it is loaded from Lemon Squeezy, which collects information under its own privacy policy.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking on the Site.
f. How We Respond to Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control Signals
We do not track visitors over time or across third-party websites, and we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. Because of this, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to turn off, but we treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of any sale or sharing.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide the Site and Software, deliver downloads and updates, and activate and check licenses.
- Process orders, refunds, and license key changes, and prevent license misuse and fraud.
- Answer your questions and provide support.
- Send you messages about your purchase, your license, and important changes to our Software or policies.
- Send you news and offers, but only if you have chosen to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Keep the Site and Software secure and fix technical problems.
- Improve our Site and Software, based on the feedback and support requests you send us.
- Meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and enforce our agreements.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Lemon Squeezy (our reseller and merchant of record), to process payments, taxes, refunds, and license keys. Lemon Squeezy is responsible for the payment information it collects under its own privacy policy.
- Service providers that host and run our Services for us, such as Microsoft (website hosting and email) and Cloudflare (website security, domain services, and spam protection). They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons, in response to court orders, subpoenas, or other legal processes; to establish or defend legal claims; to investigate fraud or threats to the Services or to any person; or as otherwise required by law.
- Business transfers, to a buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your consent, or at your direction.
We may share aggregated information that does not identify any individual.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use only the cookies and browser storage that the Site needs to work. When you first visit, a notice explains this and links to our Terms of Use, this privacy policy, and our Software License Agreement; when you accept it, that choice is kept in your browser’s local storage so the notice is not shown again.
- Essential cookies: a security cookie that protects our forms from being submitted by other websites, and any cookies Cloudflare Turnstile needs to check that a form is sent by a person.
- Preferences: your light or dark theme choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, and is never sent to us.
- Checkout: if you open the checkout, Lemon Squeezy may set its own cookies to process your purchase, under its own cookie policy.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or targeting cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the contact form, refund form, and checkout may not work without essential cookies.
5. How Long We Keep Your Information
- Contact and support messages: for up to three (3) years after our last exchange with you, so we can follow up on related questions.
- Order, refund, and license records: for as long as the license is active, and afterward for as long as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes (typically seven (7) years).
- Server logs: for no more than ninety (90) days, unless needed to investigate a security problem.
We delete or anonymize information when we no longer need it for these purposes.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for the Site, our download servers, and the license service, and access limits so that only people who need your information to do their jobs can see it. However, no transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any applicable regulator as required by law.
Content you create with our Software is protected by the security of your own computers and servers. Keep your operating system up to date, protect your computer with a password, and keep backups.
7. Your Choices
- Access, correction, and deletion: email support@studerworks.com to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. Some information may need to be kept for legal, tax, or accounting reasons.
- Marketing emails: you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by emailing us. We will still send messages about your purchases and licenses.
- License activations: you can deactivate a computer at any time in the Software’s settings or from your Lemon Squeezy order page, which removes its name from the key’s activations.
- Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, as described in Section 4.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age (or under 16 years of age in the EEA and the United Kingdom). If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us at support@studerworks.com and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights in California and Other U.S. States
If you live in California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, or Oregon), you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and get a copy of it;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information we collected from you;
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for targeted advertising, and profiling (we do not do any of these); and
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
In the past twelve (12) months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1: identifiers (such as name, email address, IP address, and license keys), commercial information (such as purchase records), internet activity (such as server logs), and the content of messages you send us. We collect this information from you, from your browser and our Software, and from Lemon Squeezy, for the purposes in Section 2, and disclose it only to the recipients in Section 3. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose that requires an opt-out.
To exercise your rights, email support@studerworks.com. We will confirm your request within ten (10) business days and respond within forty-five (45) days, and we will verify your identity by matching the information you give us with the information we hold. You may use an authorized agent, who must show that you have authorized them. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and if you disagree with the result of your appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
California “Shine the Light”: we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
10. EEA, UK, and Swiss Residents
a. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal information because:
- We need it to perform a contract with you, such as delivering and licensing Software you bought, processing refunds, and providing support;
- You have given us your consent, such as for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time;
- It is in our legitimate interests to run, secure, and improve the Services and prevent fraud, and those interests are not overridden by your rights; or
- We need it to comply with the law, such as tax and accounting rules.
b. Your Rights Under the GDPR
- Right to Be Informed: the right to know about the collection and use of your personal information.
- Right of Access: the right to receive a copy of your personal information.
- Right to Rectification: the right to have mistakes in your personal information corrected.
- Right to Erasure: the right to have your personal information deleted, in certain situations.
- Right to Restriction of Processing: the right to have the processing of your personal information restricted, in certain circumstances, for example if you contest its accuracy.
- Right to Data Portability: the right to receive the personal information you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have it sent to another organization, in certain situations.
- Right to Object: the right to object at any time to processing for direct marketing, and in certain other situations to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making: the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not make any such decisions.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@studerworks.com. We will respond within one (1) month.
c. Where Your Information Is Held and International Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries that may not have the same data protection laws as the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. When we transfer your personal information out of those regions, we rely on safeguards recognized by law, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or our service providers’ certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions.
d. Complaints
We hope we can resolve any concern you have about how we use your information, so please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in the country where you live, work, or where you believe an infringement occurred. A list of EEA authorities is available at edpb.europa.eu. In the United Kingdom, the supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). In Switzerland, it is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (edoeb.admin.ch).
11. Links to Other Websites
The Site contains links to other websites, such as Lemon Squeezy and the publishers of third-party components. This privacy policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new “Last Updated” date, and if we make significant changes to how we handle personal information, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Site before the change takes effect.
13. How to Contact Us
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or the information we hold about you, please contact us. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, because we are not required to, but we answer all privacy questions directly.
